I consider myself to be a modern day Renaissance Man. Multiple degrees makes me slightly book smart. Id like to think that I'm more street smart and understand people and cultures somewhat. Let me explain. I've lived in almost half a dozen countries. Traveled the world extensively for most of my life. Born and raised in the streets of the jungle in South Africa; I now live in the USA and have wrestled in 48 states. (Vermont and Montana missing). Also I've lost track of how many of the 196 countries on planet earth I've traveled too.
- "There are 196 countries in the world today. Taiwan is not considered an official country by many, which would bring the count down to 195 countries. Although Taiwan operates as an independent country, many countries (including the U.S.) do not officially recognize it as one." -- google
While working with the WWE I got to live out my dream and perform all over the world while traveling every week. That was and is still the favorite part of the job for me. I mean I got to see the world. And putting on shows for thousands of people all over the world was NOT like a job to me. In the words of my very good friend Santino "I basically got paid to carry my luggage around the globe".
So what I'm trying to say is that different cultures fascinate me. And I've realize that people around the world are very different yet very alike. Despite the countless languages, fashion sense, lifestyles and beliefs etc etc....
Somehow I'm drawn to free-spirited people and you see them come from all walks of life and find them in every corner of the planet. While "freedom" is something that we all strive for. We want to be free of life hassles, free of sin, free of war, free of debt; but the burden of trying to be financially well off so we could be free has an entirely superficial meaning also. But its not the same thing. See freedom means you're free to do whatever you want or as Siri just told me "the condition of being free; the power to act or speak or think without externally imposed restraints". While my definition of free-spirited is almost like being open minded. Thinking differently to societies norm. These people don't follow rules. They live not by breaking any rules but just have a different view on life. Like doing the right thing not because the law or a certain religion says so. But because its ingrained in our DNA somehow; we all know whats right and wrong somehow. Im talking about people who are and feel "connected" to nature and earth and who tell you about souls and how we are all one. Most people think these are hippies or people highly self medicated on hallucinogens and/or ayahuasca. But just like anything else in the world.... What if they are right. What if we've had it all wrong all this time. Who are they? The enlightened ones... They are free... spirited....
My interpretation of "Laws of the world" - Be passionate. Have compassion. Be free. Do things that make you happy. Do the right thing always. Treat people the way you want to be treated. Be kind to animals. But also eat them. Don't be a vegetarian and eat the poor creatures' food. Unless your doctor decides that your blood type does not agree with the meat that the Lord Jesus said we should eat. Then go find a new doctor. Preferably a witch Doc. No don't do that either. Im kidding. Make up your own damn mind.
But if all this fails you live by my 3 skydiving rules #1. Look good
#2. Have fun
#3. Safety third
And as my good skydiving friend has painted on his helmet "Be perfect. Don't die. Not even once"
Live your life how you want to. If you are unhappy in your life only YOU can change it. If you are unhappy cause you listened to your parents, teachers, coaches or idiots on TV then you probably deserve it.
